Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so terrible that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer level of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping strategy.
But then, you remember that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you experienced morphs into a sigh.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You wonder about the nature of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of uncontrollable hair. I couldn't do it to look presentable. As I was running out the door, I stumbled and gracefully all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was completely behind schedule for school.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
